Its a fact they are not lying to us or the world when they mention it. Not so sure why the HH is so upset by TBS they didnt throw the gofer ball to JD they didn’t K 4 times in a game
We beat everybody in the regular season, not just the bad teams in our division.
Winning in the regular season is a necessary first step to winning in the post-season. I’m just happy we’ve finally mastered step one. Step two will hopefully come with time. Preferably faster than we are currently doing it of course.
and I’m just tired of us sucking in the postseason, looking like a bunch of slap judy hitters after showing otherwise in the regular season. it’s not the first time its happened and it just bugs the crap out of me because I’m impatient and want to win now and beat the flippin Bostards brains in.
We’ve been homerless for what, 7 games now? That’s really not all that long.
2. I agree more with people later in this topic who talked about how tense some of our guys are. I would also agree that Hatcher is a crappy hitting coach. But saying that we aren’t built for power when we have 4 guys with 20 or more homers on our roster is ridiculous. We got Tex specifically FOR that purpose.
it doesn’t matter – the whole approach goes out the window and has been rendered powerless because nobody can effectively hit postseason pitching on this team when it matters.
We had this game from the 7th inning on, it was ours. Bullshit no call on the pickoff, but still, Frankie gets it done and we win in the 9th, guaranteed.
I am pretty much in agreement with that statement.
We come out tonight and give up 4 right away. We’re having to come back all game long. Like in so many efforts it’s the climbing back that can finally be attained, but getting over the mountain doesn’t happen. You can’t dig that deep a hole for yourself. And even then, with us scoring 5 ourselves, we left so, so many sitting on the table. We stranded 11 guys, and HK simply should not be in there. It’s too late to do anything about it now, so I guess it doesn’t matter.
What is so amusing about these playoffs to watch the pending FA cost themselves so much cash, and for some to call their agent and say “SHOW ME THE MONEY!”
K-Rod cost himself 10 Mil with that pitch. U-Haul is boosting his already ridiculous price by millions. GA might cost himself having his option picked up.
I still love Frankie and Howie is still my favorite player. I’m loving Tex like you can’t believe and I’m stoked that Vlad and Figgy look to be dumping their playoff woes.
I would rather go down with this squad, then win with any other.
Get ‘em boys, I’ll see ya back in the OC next week.
my love for the Angels runs much deeper.
i started liking the Rams right before the Super Bowl (bandwagoner… i was young).
i’ve loved the Halos since the 90’s, when i could actually understand the game.
and i’m not much of a pro football fan, to be honest. it’s okay sometimes, but i’ll never get THIS caught up in it.
Stop already! System favors them? The team that plays better and scores more runs wins thats the system!!
How did they hit the 3 run jack for Bay or the HR for JD. You really think that Aybar had him at 2nd on the pick? Why because he jumped up and down crying? They shit the bed from the start.
I said the system favored them. And it did. We lost all the same. A good team finds a way to win, despite the difficulties.
But yeah, Torii being called safe, Aybar getting the pick call—Both game changers, both go Boston’s way. Instant replay is a wonderful thing. Not that I’d expect you to be up with the latest technology.
Aybar never got a tag on him before the runner got back and the Hunter call can go either way
Saw the replay and you care to see it differently. Bottom line is Fuck Rod shit the bed. You said it earlier on your BOTG. No matter what happened earlier inspite of you thinking the umpire was out to get the Angels and umpiring crew is related to Tim Donaghy and Red Sox fans.
as much as I want to call him out and most umps would based on the ball arriving prior to the runner there was no tag until after Coco had gotten back.
now i hate to correct a chowd when its against us, but red sox has always had our number, welcome to red sox history class, this semester we will be covering pre 2004
I know. His performance didn't surprise me at all tonight.
His WHIP this year and last year are nowhere near the previous four years. Whenever any of us brought this point up a month or two ago on these boards, we’d get the shit kicked out us.
If he was in a setup role like Scot Shields, he would have been have been exposed then. Because he typically had the comfort a a clean start in the 9th inning, he could wiggle out of trouble. If he was used like an elite closer should be able to be used (cleaning up other people’s mess in the 8th inning from time to time), we would have dramatically failed as he did tonight. If you can’t count on him for more than 1 inning, why meet his demands to be highest paid reliever?
No, we put him on a one-inning limit to protect his ARM
because we played in so
many
close games this year. The same guy who posted Amen a few line up also predicted that K-Rod’s arm would explode after this season if we weren’t careful. Apparently, the Angels recognizing the danger and protecting that arm somehow makes K-Rod a crappy closer.
Meeting his “demands” is a very different thing than dumping on him as a choke-artist and loser, which is what you guys do to him practically EVERY time he comes out.
I can’t take this bullshit anymore. I’d like to think that we can come back and win the series, but come on….we need to display some fucking balls, plain and simple. We are a good baseball team, but we haven’t showed that we have the fucking balls to take it to the next level.
Do I have faith? Yes. But, godfuckingdammit, we could have won the game with the bases loaded in the 8th.
Second year in a row that FRod blew the series in game 2 with a walk off
this one was top of 9 so technically not a walk off, just a game winner that’s all.
KRod is gone. What would you rather spend 15 million a year on, FRod or another bat? It’s not even a question.
I’ve hated the way FRod has been used all year long; only in save situations, only in the 9th inning, hopefully when he’s gone from our system Sosh can use the bullpen in a true situational way.
When should you use your best reliever, when you’re up by 2 in the 8th, with the go ahead runs on base and 1 out, or starting the 9th, up by 2, no runners on base? If you explain the game of baseball to anyone without a working knowledge of how major league managers use closers it’d be a simple answer, and not the one the managers rely on that’s for sure.
But I guess FRod has proved for the second postseason in a row that he is clearly NOT our best relief pitcher. How many “saves” has he gotten by coming in with a 3 run lead, gives up a couple hits, maybe a run or two, walks guys, final score we win by 1 or 2, he gets a “save”. It’s an emptier statistic than wins and losses, it’s absurd.
Go look at the other AL closers and look at their save percentages, just as comparable as Frod, just not as many chances because most other teams score more runs and don’t have as many close ballgames. I’d much rather develop another closer and secure more power offense.
I really thought Torii and Tex meant more power offense, and we’d win it all.
I hope K-Rod signs his 5 year, 75 million dollar deal with the Mets and gets his sorry a$$ out of Anaheim. He’ll fit in perfectly with the rest of their blowpen.
I wake up, stumble outside and …. nobody around, just a few cockroaches running around the ground, rubble everywhere. Thunderstix and rally fans strewn about. No signs of life. Alone, nothing, but I see….Red. Red. It’s, oh crap, it’s the Red Sox. They are still standing. They are the tyrant that caused all of this pain and suffering.
for fuccks sake

just pressing WAY too much.
I feel bad for How, I just hope he can have amnesia about this experience and move forward from it.
gdog009 - October 3, 2008
by pressing do you mean lost out of his mind?
UCIHalo - October 3, 2008
yes, like somebody picking up a baseball bat for the first time.
gdog009 - October 3, 2008
To be fair guys
JD Drew does have Micky Mantle like power

UCIHalo - October 3, 2008

UCIHalo - October 3, 2008
at least there is football this Sunday
Dono Romantico - October 3, 2008
Doesnt matter to me
Im a Rams fan :(
KingF15h - October 3, 2008
ouch dude
i hopped off that train a few years ago.
howiestheman - October 3, 2008
weak.
Got the super bowl, then jumped off, eh?
Downing Rules - October 4, 2008
now, it was a few years after the Super Bowl
literally, like 2 years ago.
howiestheman - October 4, 2008
Ah...
so what’s keeping you on this train?
Downing Rules - October 4, 2008
touche
my love for the Angels runs much deeper.
i started liking the Rams right before the Super Bowl (bandwagoner… i was young).
i’ve loved the Halos since the 90’s, when i could actually understand the game.
and i’m not much of a pro football fan, to be honest. it’s okay sometimes, but i’ll never get THIS caught up in it.
howiestheman - October 4, 2008
no end to your pain
UCIHalo - October 3, 2008
me too
i just got laughed at by like 15 bosux fans
man im feelin like crap
princeton11loveshalos - October 3, 2008
and college football tomorrow!!!
that might help ease the pain
howiestheman - October 3, 2008
who the f do we have to root for?
Red - October 3, 2008
Rays, Maddon
it’s the only team whose winning the series would piss off the rest of the baseball world (though not as much as the Halos winning it would have)
gdog009 - October 3, 2008
agreed
those boys know how to play.
we need Maddon back
howiestheman - October 3, 2008
I'm rooting for the Rays
teopeht - October 3, 2008
same here
howiestheman - October 3, 2008
That Longoria chick is pretty hot
and apparently she hits the ball for extra bases…unlike our team.
teopeht - October 3, 2008
In other news, they've reached a verdict in the OJ trial.
Hopefully he’ll be found guilty and sent to jail the rest of his life.
At least that would make my night.

riiiiiiiight
stupid effing bailout bill too…. eff you, Congress!
howiestheman - October 3, 2008
Sure been fun watching Tex play though
Angel Aviator - October 3, 2008
for reals
did it seem like all the breaks and luck went bostons way or what?
UCIHalo - October 3, 2008
They always get the breaks
They are the luckiest team in baseball and they have been for quite some time now
KingF15h - October 3, 2008
Luck is the residue of design
Angel Aviator - October 3, 2008
As in the system is designed to favor them?
Given the calls that went their way tonight, I’d take some of that action.
Zu Long - October 3, 2008
You replying to me?
Angel Aviator - October 3, 2008
That's what the up button says.
It must be so.
Zu Long - October 3, 2008
Your always crying about calls and the umpiring
Stop already! System favors them? The team that plays better and scores more runs wins thats the system!!
How did they hit the 3 run jack for Bay or the HR for JD. You really think that Aybar had him at 2nd on the pick? Why because he jumped up and down crying? They shit the bed from the start.
Angel Aviator - October 3, 2008
I didn't say they won the game because of it.
Zu Long - October 3, 2008
Aybar never got a tag on him before the runner got back and the Hunter call can go either way
Saw the replay and you care to see it differently. Bottom line is Fuck Rod shit the bed. You said it earlier on your BOTG. No matter what happened earlier inspite of you thinking the umpire was out to get the Angels and umpiring crew is related to Tim Donaghy and Red Sox fans.
Angel Aviator - October 3, 2008
I believe I just said that, yes.
And Aybar got the tag on him. Even the biased announcer crew was willing to admit that much.
Zu Long - October 3, 2008
Wait............
So you think this Angel team is not a good team based on your reply of “good teams find a way to win despite the difficulties”
Angel Aviator - October 4, 2008
You are right on the tag. It didn't happen.
Ball beat the runner – but the tag didn’t.
jimmuscomp - October 3, 2008
Thank You Jim
as much as I want to call him out and most umps would based on the ball arriving prior to the runner there was no tag until after Coco had gotten back.
Angel Aviator - October 3, 2008
Early game strikes...
not called for Santana…even in the at bat to Bay..shoudl have been 1-2, not 2-1…that is a “Boston” call if I ever saw one.
Clip Show - October 3, 2008
Better teams get the breaks.
bc56274 - October 3, 2008
since 2004, yes.
UN-CLUTCH is our killer.
we press. we’re not relaxed. we’re forcing everything. they’ve had us on our heels since they showed up on Tuesday.
howiestheman - October 3, 2008
you know whats ridiculous. why the hell do we play boston every year. best record should automatically draw the worst team. this sucks
stezo - October 3, 2008
They are the worst
They didnt win a division
KingF15h - October 3, 2008
well sorta
they dont have the worst playoff record is what i think stezo is going for.
i honestly dont know how much better we would have fared against the other sox.
linkbruin - October 4, 2008
But the White Sox had a worse record.
The team with the best record should play the one with the worst record.
snowhor - October 4, 2008
We had this game by the balls
Frankie choked it. Now we gotta win on Sunday. Plain and simple.
highlandhalo - October 3, 2008

that was the stupidest loss i can rmemeber
Carl Johnson - October 3, 2008
I dunno, how about Frankie blowing the throw to 1st base after Teix's walkoff 2 run HR?
that was a pretty stupid loss in the 9th.
teopeht - October 3, 2008
this qas worse
playfoss
Carl Johnson - October 3, 2008
playfoss?
hahahahaha
howiestheman - October 3, 2008
Shh, dude, mad beer pong
And I won tonight too, even with a terrible, terrible blonde girl as my partner. She was, alas, a Sox gfan.
Carl Johnson - October 3, 2008
Fuck you, K-Fraud.
snowhor - October 3, 2008
He actually is a fraud.
Check out the dude’s WHIP.
Smoke and mirrors.
Fuck him. I hope his arm falls out of socket next season.
bc56274 - October 3, 2008
I know. His performance didn't surprise me at all tonight.
His WHIP this year and last year are nowhere near the previous four years. Whenever any of us brought this point up a month or two ago on these boards, we’d get the shit kicked out us.
snowhor - October 3, 2008
You know, the usual you're not a real fan bullshit.
snowhor - October 3, 2008
Amen
Angel Aviator - October 3, 2008
That's because a month or two ago, he didn't deserve it.
Zu Long - October 3, 2008
Bullshit.
If you can’t count on him for more than 1 inning, why meet his demands to be highest paid reliever?
snowhor - October 3, 2008
No, we put him on a one-inning limit to protect his ARM
because we played in so
close games this year.
Zu Long - October 3, 2008
Let's not act like Frankie was overworked this year.
He pitched 68.1 innings. The reason he was rarely used for saves in excess of 1 innings is purely because he cannot handle it.
snowhor - October 3, 2008
I never said when or it would explode
I clearly said I would not give him the contract he wanted based on the fact that the life of a closer is not long.
So stop putting words in my mouth you idiot F-Rod sux azz
Angel Aviator - October 4, 2008
and when it does
it will be extra funny because he will be playing for the Doyers
UCIHalo - October 3, 2008
I'ma getting fucked up...
Drunkenly yours,
BE Halofan

bc56274 - October 3, 2008
I’m an idiot. A heart broken idiot.

Sign Tex. Tell K-Fraud to go fuck himself.
I hope this doesn’t sour our ability to get Tex to stay.
snowhor - October 3, 2008
i am also worried about that
UCIHalo - October 3, 2008
I've been worried since Wednesday.
snowhor - October 3, 2008
I agree with snowhor
I hope K-Rod signs his 5 year, 75 million dollar deal with the Mets and gets his sorry a$$ out of Anaheim. He’ll fit in perfectly with the rest of their blowpen.
Chzburger Jones - October 3, 2008
Good God...
you’d think that the world came to an abrupt end reading this stuff.
Is baseball life or merely a game?
GO ANGELS, win or lose, I am always a fan.
Downing Rules - October 4, 2008
You mean it didn't?
snowhor - October 4, 2008
I feel like I came out from a bomb shelter
having missed the game and all….
Downing Rules - October 4, 2008
Two comments
One — Frankie…don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way to the Mets.
Two — The Yankees had the Red Sox number for YEARS until they sucked it up and went apeshit on them in 2004. Time to step up or cry all post season.
