Angels 2008 Spring Training Non-Roster Invitees

Non-Roster Invitees to Spring Training

If any of these players make the team out of Spring Training, it means we have a boatload of injuries or made a six for one player swap and it was six of ours.

The one area in which we could be construed to be thin in is Left-Handed relievers - and there is not a southpaw in the nine arms listed below!

PITCHERS
Nick Adenhart
Henry Bonilla
Stephen Marek
Darren O'Day
Kasey Olenberger
Fernando Rodriguez
Rafael Rodriguez
Alex Serrano
Matt Wilhite

CATCHERS
Hank Conger
Anel de los Santos
Tim Duff
Ben Johnson

INFIELDERS
Ryan Mount
Adam Pavkovich
PJ Phillips
Freddy Sandoval
Hainley Statia
Nate Sutton

OUTFIELDERS
Peter Bourjos
Dee Brown
Chad Hermansen

I know we ditched MacPherson...
but under what conditions would he return to compete for a spot on the team?
under 2 conditions
slim and none - and slim has left the building...
I still dont understand the ditching of D-mac
Back injuries are a bitch to recover from
That also seems to be the accepted wisdom of 29 other clubs.
well
i know some people are attached to dallas as he had great potential, but at what point do you draw the line? I have a feeling the fact that he still hasnt even been signed to a minor league contract elsewhere is evidence enough that his medical records show little to no chance of him ever contributing.

Britney spears was pretty damn awesome 4 years ago too.

LMAO!!! that was PANTHER REV!!!!
Borrowed from Chick Hearn...
From a KLAC 570 broadcast back in '87 timeframe:
"The Kansas City Kings have two chances to beat these Lakers tonight: slim and none.  And slim just left the building."
Actually, I believe that...
this phrase originated with the Romans.  It is quite old.
Ceasar to McPherson"
"duos spera es tenuis quod nullus"
thanks for the technical analysis
when does Matt Welch's Angel blog go live?
"half these guys are dead"
well then cross them off the list!
Maybe Jobu...
could help our power issues?
Lol! Good one!
And maybe our bats need hats... :)
Nahh....
Jobu can't hit a curve ball!  He claims he can, but evidence shows otherwise.
I'm looking forward
to watching Wilhite's 3-2 Surprise again in Spring Training. Though I'm not sure how much of a surprise it is anymore. But at least the umps probably won't be calling any bogus balks this time around.
Adenhart and Conger
will both be fun to watch and see just how far they are from being major league ready. My guess is that Adenhart is closer than Conger.
Marek
Interesting to see how he ends up this year.
Our OF depth must REALLY be poor
Dee Brown?
Chad Hermanson?
We outrighted to Salt Lake
Tommy Murphy and allowed Nick Gorneault to be claimed off waivers by Texas who then DFA'd him after trading for Ben Broussard.  Both Murphy and Gorneault are Free Agents (unless someone else has picked them up).  Nathan Haynes is out of options; we can't send him back to AAA without exposing him to waivers.  Willits?.....maybe we could send him to AAA if he doesn't make the opening 25, but I'm inclined to believe he'll be traded.
I guess the Nationals
signed Tommy Murphy Nov. 28th and invited him to spring training.
