The amazing thing is that
even when he doesn't have all 3 pitches, he'll still gets people out.Percy only had 2 pitches. If his fastball wasn't working it was REAL trouble.
As great as Percy was, over the course of a season, I think Frankie is able to handle the rough spots better.
Incidentally, in the 3 blown saves, we won each of those games.

used to scare me ... when he couldnt get his fastball over the plate ... he gave up those long flys and walks ... oy vey.I feel like Frankie cannot consistently get his fastball or changeup over the plate for strikes, even when the batter is taking a pitch.
If you lay off his slider, he will give up walks, and things get interesting.
Still glad he is an Angel. Just letting off some steam.

That's not a changeup
That's the slider he throws for strikes. Then he's got the fat one in the dirt. This year he DOES have a change-up that he throws to lefties but I don't think he's used it until this year. He doesn't throw it to righties because it tails to the right.melvintoast - August 7, 2007
