Garret Anderson is back on the Angels after rehabbing at Single-A Rancho.
To make room for him, Joe Saunders was optioned to AAA Salt Lake.
Psychologist: Now tell me, how does all of this make you feel?
Angels Fan: Read my comments in the Halos Heaven thread devoted to this topic, doc.

That's a good way to say "thank you"
For a quality start.Welcome back, GA. You've been... uh... missed?
101halo - June 2, 2007
I will be pissed if GA is hitting cleanup
edhoo - June 2, 2007
GA
batting 4th, playing LFIll bet all of my OPD points on it, all 8 of them or whatever.
Pwn - June 3, 2007
LA Times says Yes on LF
but 5th or 6th, Wllits in RF with Vlad as DHRev Halofan - June 3, 2007
OK
How long? For one game? Or is this now the permanent solution?I can see Willits being benched and figgins moving to Lead off again due to his recent hit frenzy. Not that I want this to happen but is Willits save now that GA is back? He won't be playing 3B.
Anaheim of Anaheim - June 3, 2007
Well at least he deserved this chance
Considering after 3 games he went 2 for 7, which is a healthy .222 avg, with 2K's.Against single A ball pitching.
I guess even they know how to throw breaking junk low and away from him...
101halo - June 3, 2007
P.S. I think one good thing comes of this
I think Hillenbrand gets benched most every day now.At least that's my hope.
101halo - June 3, 2007
This should mean...
It's Shea vs GA for the rest of the season. Whoever is sucking the least wins for that week. Willits needs to stay.Anaheim of Anaheim - June 3, 2007
I would rather have GA over Katrina
so if thats the situation, Amen!!!!!acuda27 - June 3, 2007
we all know the drill
GA will get as much playing time as he wants. he's not katrina, so he will get the longest lifeline possible -- he's an angels lifer!i'm pulling for you, GA.
yeswecan - June 3, 2007
And our DH platoon of
Katrina Hillenbrand and Geriatric Anderson shall strike fear into the hearts of pitchers throughout the land.darkangel01 - June 3, 2007
i'm still a believer
emotional, yes, but i'll still wave the GA flag until it's dying days.yeswecan - June 3, 2007
"its dying days"
i'm a grammar snob.yeswecan - June 3, 2007
but apparently not a capitalization snob...

Geez - they told Joe after the game.
He didn't even have a chance to enjoy the win.I understand that Joe's probably being sent down to continue his starts and keep his arm strong but they could have waited a couple days. GA has been out for 44 games and the team has been managing to win. This could have waited a day or two.

Mark my words
2-3 years from now (or whenever he reaches FA), Saunders will pitch for the White Sox. Don't ask me why, I've just got a feeling...Clutch - June 3, 2007
I haven't read the LA Times
article yet. I want to print my thoughts before they're influenced:If GA is unDL'd....fine.
Rotating LF, DH, and bench....fine.
The DH spot during our recent success is batting 8th. That's the way it ought to be......as far as GA and Hillenbrand are concerned.
wumbug - June 3, 2007
Depending on the hand the pitcher uses,
maybe 7th.wumbug - June 3, 2007
I couldn't be anymore underwhelmed
GA is the new Darin Erstad and Adam Kennedy.higdog - June 3, 2007
Be Underwhelmed
He is the new Steve FinleySocalAngelFaninOC - June 3, 2007
I kinda like
what the lineup looks like today. Now all we need to do is platoon Casey & Orlando on a regular basis with Aybar & Hilly and I think ol' Scioscia may be onto something. Now if he can quit f-ing with the pitching by inserting Carrasco & Oliver in close games...we will be alright.Rex DaKine Budler - June 3, 2007
Platooning two of our best players?
May as well platoon Vladedhoo - June 3, 2007
Nice Battle Shea
Rex DaKine Budler - June 3, 2007
GA is underrated on this site....
Sad kind of.If people don't think he's good enough to hit 5th, 6th, or 7th in this lineup they're crazy.
thewebb - June 3, 2007
Then I'm crazy
G.A. is many things. Underrated is no longer one of them.darkangel01 - June 3, 2007
except on this site
thewebb - June 3, 2007
Uh, no
darkangel01 - June 3, 2007
you seriously think he should be riding pine
in this lineup? And who should start instead? You can't say Willits because he's already in the lineup.I just want it to be in writing so later in the season (barring injury) when its so painfully obvious you're wrong I'll have proof.
thewebb - June 3, 2007
Yes
Willits should be the everyday LF, and at best G.A. should split time with Q at DH until Rivera returns after which he should ride the pine. G.A. is at the point of his career where he should not be starting everyday for a contending team. He's got a .750 OPS over 2005/2006 and .635 in 98 ABs in 2007. Here is a list of guys with .OPS higher than G.A.'s in the past two years: Kenny Lofton Ryan Freel Juan Encarnacion Brian Roberts Jeromy Burnitz Chone Figgins David Eckstein Yes, our deposed shortstop had a higher .OPS than G.A in 2005. He has a higher .OPS than G.A. now. And no, I don't want him back hitting in our 5-7 holes anytime soon.darkangel01 - June 4, 2007
but... but...
he can drive in runs...CaLiKrAzY - June 4, 2007
GA should be platooning...
with Shea as the DH until Juan Rivera comes back when he will become the DH and GA and Shea will become bench riders. He isn't an offensive threat any longer, he is overpaid, bad in LF, slow on the bases and a hack-tastic hitter.
Just like Erstad last year, I hope he gets hurt so that management isn't tempted to play him...
jimmuscomp - June 3, 2007
Vlad is wearing out in RF
I think we need Garret in LF and Reggie in RF until Rivera gets back, just to save Vlad from falling apart.Rev Halofan - June 3, 2007
Vlad DH
bring up Evans, play him in right, willits in left, GMJ center.bench GA, kill hillendouche
Pwn - June 3, 2007
let evans play
even though he's unproven and pay GA for nothing, sounds good.Just keep shit as is and use GA as a DH.
CaLiKrAzY - June 4, 2007
now that actually makes sense
thewebb - June 4, 2007
way to be a great fan!
thewebb - June 4, 2007
Fair enough, Rev...
I think that Johnny Rivers will need quite a bit of time at DH with the bum leg though - at least I would think that.jimmuscomp - June 3, 2007
Hmmmmm
Can we have it be Willits and Matthews and 2 DHs?Rev Halofan - June 3, 2007
Garret Anderson is done
The last time GA was a good hitter was 2000 and freakin' 3. Since then he has had 4 straight years of declining BA and Slug%, and outside of a minor upblip last year, declining OBP. He slugged (loosely applied here) all of .446 in 2004 and has gotten worse. He is old, and getting older, and since when do arthritic joints, bad backs and shoulders, sore knees and hips get better with age. Where oh where in this can anyone find a sliver of hope that somehow he can hit well enough to help a championship caliber team. Has there been a championship team, ever, that can lay claim to putting a person like that in the middle of the line-up, especially in a position where slugging is about all that's required. He is no longer an asset, and frankly undoes much of the good of the other guys...much like Hillencrap does now. The Angels would be a better team if they just cut him. Teams, and often regular businesses, are loathe to put an unknown quantity in an important position, but that beats a known quantity, when the known quantity is known to be useless.Evans would be a better choice, and get Vladdy out of right before he kills us.
statlr - June 4, 2007
Evans might be as good as D Mac
melvintoast - June 4, 2007
Yes, there has
. Has there been a championship team, ever, that can lay claim to putting a person like that in the middle of the line-up, especially in a position where slugging is about all that's required.2006 Cardinals -- 30-year-old right fielder Juan Encarnacion (.278/.317/.443) hit cleanup 23 times and fifth 62 times.
2005 White Sox -- 34-year-old DH Carl Everett (.251/.311/.435) hit third 82 times and cleanup 8 times.
2003 Marlins -- RF Juan Encarnacion (.270/.313/.446) hit fifth 90 times and cleanup 22.
2000 Yankees -- 37-year-old RFer Paul O'Neill (.283/.336/.424, in an offensive spike year, batting lefty at Yankee Stadium) hit third 141 times.
And that's just this century!
mattwelch - June 4, 2007
Correction
There was no World Series champ in 2006. Jeff Weaver pitched for the 2006 Cardinals. Therefore, the Cardinals couldn't have won the World Series.jjackflash - June 4, 2007
