Monday Morning GAME THREAD Angels @ Rangers - 11 am Game Time
Jered Weaver vs Kevin Millwood

Random Song Lyrics
It's the pause that refreshes in the corridors of power
When top men need a top up long before the happy hour
When the Angels lose at home and I have been at the game, I stop by Gene Autry's statue and drop my head into his hat to reverse the trend.
Let's see if this works on road games...
Gene and I are both Libras with 7-5/8 hat size. I shake his hand after a win.

There all great in a walk year...they all suck after a big juicy contract except big vladdy daddy.roidrage - May 14, 2007
Mike, weve got a problem......
and her name is Katrina. We must DFA this mission ASAP.Copy that, time to bring in our *D*angerous *H*it-man, agent Kendry Morales.

I hate these 4 game stops that trickle over to the Monday. It's like a hangover.anaheimisnotla - May 14, 2007

what I'm worried about
is Weaver's pitching style and that launch pad for a ball park that the Rangers play in. Weaver relies on the pop out a lot and those could equal homeruns today like yesterday's slug fest. I can't remember if the physics of the baseball's inflated projectile motion at Arlington has been discussed here before.... go AngelsHutch (someone took my name) - May 14, 2007

I was thinking along the lines of projectile motion, in which case Newtonian mechanics would apply or the sub-field of quantum mechanics. Don't look to seriously at physics jokes please-there is abaseball game on.Hutch (someone took my name) - May 14, 2007

What the F?
Turn on my TV just now and ..... WHAMMY! 4 zip.Glad to see Kotchman is hitting it to more than just to the pitcher.
PieceOfAase - May 14, 2007
I know the feeling
I went downstairs into our building's underground parking, and when I got upstairs and turned on the radio, 4-0. And most amazingly, Casey Kotchman had ripped a grand slam!scareduck - May 14, 2007

What do we do with Willits
when GA's back?We need his OBP in the lineup.
ReggieBullits - May 14, 2007
... his speed on the basepaths...
and so forth.scareduck - May 14, 2007
Yep
A true leadoff man.You know Mike's gonna put Garrett back in immediately after he's recovered.
How about we DH Vlad full time and put Reggie in right. Put him in left when GA needs "off his feet".
ReggieBullits - May 14, 2007
IMO
Anderson needs to be off his feet every game.scareduck - May 14, 2007

101halo - May 14, 2007
Willits is a G
I realize there's a small sample size problem, but so far he's playing a great leadoff guy. Gets on base even if it means taking a walk, is a threat to steal (and mess with the pitcher)...Despite his past heroics, so far Willits has been more than an adequate replacement for GA. He needs to stay in the lineup even when GA returns. Since GA is going to have some conditioning problems, maybe DH him and leave Willits in left?
cardinalwraith - May 14, 2007
Agreed
To this point, he's proven himself an everyday leadoff man.Of course, all this Vlad/GA DH talk screams....BABYE SHEA!

This is gonna be another slug fest.ReggieBullits - May 14, 2007
Weaver needs a big fat double play here
cardinalwraith - May 14, 2007
By double play I did not mean a missing tooth
what was OC thinking?cardinalwraith - May 14, 2007
for those of us with Gameday only
what happened?jjackflash - May 14, 2007
Laird flied out to left
and both Willits and OC went for the ball. OC got it but in the process bopped Willits in the mouth with his elbow. Reggie was on the ground for a second and then started to look around the ground (Rangers announcers speculating he's looking for a tooth or a contact, couldn't tell).Sosh and the trainers came out to talk to him, he decided to stay in the game.
cardinalwraith - May 14, 2007
It was deep enough that it should have been
Willits's ball, but maybe Willits didn't call him off or OC didn't hear him calling him off.cardinalwraith - May 14, 2007
Great
the last thing we need is Mr. OBP to be out with an injury.jjackflash - May 14, 2007

Delay worse for the Angels
ends up being worse for the Angels; the Rangers are going to throw their relief corps at us, but the Angels were relatively cruising with WTY on the mound.scareduck - May 14, 2007
What would happen if
the rain did not stop, and they had to stop playing? Would they have to start over some other day? Or would they continue the game from this point on a later date?MistaRaggy @ Halos Heaven - May 14, 2007
Terrible
Game would start over, score and all stats would be erased. Not as bad as Paul Byrd losing a no-hitter to Seattle after pitching 4 2/3 innings, but with us up 4-0, pretty bad.RallyMonkey5 - May 14, 2007
I'm not sure that's true anymore
I think there was a rules change, and they suspend the game to be finished later.scareduck - May 14, 2007
Can live with a delay
But don't call the game! Don't take away Kotchman's slam!RallyMonkey5 - May 14, 2007

Keep pounding guys
We need to score 15-20 runs off Texas today. We all know its not enough to have a better record than the Oakie Statboys, we have to win the pythagorean championship too. You know they are going to score double digits off KC's weak pitching, so we have to destroy Texas.RallyMonkey5 - May 14, 2007
Well that was ideal
Lofton is on my fantasy team so I would preferred that he steal second, but I'll take a single with no damage done to the scoreboad.cardinalwraith - May 14, 2007
Lofton is on the other team, so...
I will glady take that he was the head-end of a double play by my Angels! That's how I roll.Downing Rules - May 14, 2007
