Angels Q & A

So I was interviewed by Matt Hofeld about the Angels' prospects for the 2007 season for the excellent My Opinion on Sports blog.

L I N K -to- S T O R Y

It is a quick analysis of the team instead of the Stoneman-bashing that lately passes for preseason prognostication among spoiled Angel fans who are obviously on the bandwagon and not fully aware that Bill is the only GM who has assembled three winning seasons in a row in franchise history.

The $5M dollar couch hang...
Matthews could face 80-game suspension

LATimes.com

His alleged involvement in purchase of human growth hormone could lead to discipline, even if he hasn't failed a drug test.

TEMPE, ARIZ. -- Even if he has not failed a drug test, Angels center fielder Gary Matthews Jr. could be suspended for up to 80 games for his alleged involvement in the purchase of human growth hormone.

In addition to a 50-game penalty for a first positive test, baseball's drug policy mandates a suspension from 60 to 80 games following a first conviction for "possession or use of any prohibited substance."

The clause is triggered when a player is convicted or pleads guilty or no contest. However, Matthews could receive immunity from prosecution in exchange for his testimony in a possible trial.

I would be happier
if we just cut him loose.
So...
The $50M "go and spend all your time with your family now in the Valley that you've incessantly spoken of since the inception of this contract" hang on Arte?
Ha!
"Iran or North Korea. The only way the Angels don't win the division this season is if one of them nukes Southern California during a home stand."

Or if one of the innevitable brawls with the Rangers escalates to gunfire.  I gave this at least a 15% probability.

Priceless.

Where is that from?
The quote is from...
the interview with the Rev at the story link listed in the entry link of this thread.
This was the highlight of my day!!!!!!
I think the Gunfire between us and Texas is a posibility
watch out for the Swiss too
they've already invaded one country this month.

(great quote Rev - panther)

Rev Kool-Aid
willits could do just as well as GMJ? geez rev.

i hate the GMJ signing, but i wouldn't go THAT far.

and i wouldn't start throwing around "ace" and "weaver" in the same sentence, either. a stellar debut, for sure, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

i'm going to have to start calling you Rev Jim Jones!

well
murphy and willits can do mathews job for 9 million less. i'm really not expecting much from sarge jr, like .280 9 homeruns + hes taking the stolen base kings spot at lead off. willits showed he is a good #9 hitter, and murphy is good defensively.

weaver may not do as well as last year but i expect a really solid 4.00 10 or 15 win season. progressively getting better after this year.
