at AT&T - my first visit to AT&T, the Angels scored in the first, sitting along the right field line in the heart of Bonds support base knowing a whole nation was against him, inudated with the smell of garlic fries, checking out the crib (nice crib!) of our 2002 roadkill, fighting off the daughters jones'n to go to Build-A-Bear, etc.
and then holy moly, about the 6th or 7th, i realize this dude Cain's no-hittin' us! Figgy breaks it up in the 8th with 4 outs to go in the game. see scoreboard above if you can make it out (or remember). (scoring in the 1st was the biggest thing that made me lose track of the fact (and the garlic), but as mentioned above there were a lot of distractions.
anyways, we owe him one. Knock him back to Nod.
Genesis 4:8-14
Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him. Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?" He said, "I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?" And He said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries out to Me from the ground. So now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. When you till the ground, it shall no longer yield its strength to you. A fugitive and a vagabond you shall be on the earth. And Cain said to the LORD, "My punishment is greater than I can bear! Surely You have driven me out this day from the face of the ground; I shall be hidden from Your face; I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond on the earth, and it will happen that anyone who finds me will kill me."
if anyone's interested. I coughed up the coin for B-A-B, and we finally won a game there that counted (the previous one was Game 3 in 2002 WS by Ramon Ortiz), thanks to Izzy's 3-run double in the 8th, with a somewhat decent outing by WTE but he was traded two weeks later.
we came home to Phoenix the next day right after that afternoon game and followed the Halos on that NL West road trip to the BOB, but i believe 'yeswecan' did a fine job documenting that series for HH.
Here's my prediction for today - we steal some bases and there'll be some passed balls by the Garlics starting catcher.
he was traded to the Red Sox for Seibel...hence the pun. Correct me if I am wrong... Thank you, however, for the fresh info on his loss to the Northern LA Dodgers of Chavez; that was funny.
Thanks for completing my day. My favorite JC Romero looks great with that kooky "B" on his head.
I think we will finally get revenge for '86 on an HR by Gary Matthews against Donnelly or Romero when the Sox are "one strike away from the series" in the ALCS this year.
