The only sports events I follow between the Super Bowl and baseball's Opening Day are the last two weekends of the NCAA basketball tournament. Prepare to enter the Doldrums!

I like Manning and Dungy but the moving vans leaving Baltimore after midnight makes it easy to root against the Colts. The anger of an L.A. Rams fan is speaking here. Yes, I have met many Brooklyn Dodgers fans over the years. I can feel their pain. I get along with them fine by admitting that I did not become a Dodger fan until 1962. By then the Dodgers being in Los Angeles was a done deal.

Once upon a time I was a Sergeant in the Air Force (E-4, error second base as we liked to call it). I am wearing an Angels # 24 Gary Matthews Jr. jersey and a Cubs cap to a Super Bowl party in Costa Mesa. Four times the NFL's best defense has played the NFL's best offense in the Super Bowl. The best defense has won these encounters 4-out-of-4. Chicago is going to make it 5-for-5. Go Bears! Sarge, not surge!
