Game Thread - Angels at Indians - Weaver Vs. Sowers - 4:05 p.m.

Weaver was not perfect in his last start, but the who the hell was? And who's askin'?
Intentionally Altered Movie Lines:
Kelvim: You're busy after the game tonight?
MySpace Chick: Some old friends are coming over. We're gonna show some pornographic movies.
Kelvim: You need an usher?
With 49 games left in the regular season, is it too early to ask:
"What if it is Weaver Vs. Weaver in the World Series?"

So, what respectable list of hot dog condiments could possibly fail to include chili? What is this place, Chicago, with their disgusting lime green dyed pickle relish that looks like chopped crayons?
Tip to all HH addicts: Jerry's Dogs. One in Santa Ana at 17th & Tustin, south of The Claim Jumper. His second shop is out in La Mirada in the Lowe's shopping center. Mesquite grilled hot dogs and home made brats and sausages. Par boiled in beer before grilling. Deep fried potato chips available. Burgers and fries too, for those with less culinary aptitudes...

Ketchup on a hotdog:
Never.Actually, there's one exception: the bacon-wrapped Mexidog often sold on street corners outside clubs & concerts, and at the occasional farmers' market. The Chicago-style dog is austere compared to this concoction, which is topped with kethcup, mustard, mayo (no thanks), relish, grilled onions and jalapeƱos. Mmm. There are few foods in this world that cannot be improved by wrapping them in bacon.

Stirrups - August 8, 2006
First...
The Chicago-style dog is the ultimate; how can you not like that ultradyed relish? It's completely out of this world. I brought home a jar (as well as the elusive sport peppers) on my last trip to the Windy City. I've run out, and need to make another trip back there (I can't bring myself to get it by mail order). If you do like Chicago-style dogs, Portillo's opened a branch in Buena Park, which I've yet to hit up.
But I've heard great things about Jerry's Dogs from several sources.
Which brings me to this: why can't they serve a decent hot dog at the Big A? I seem to remember, back in the 80s anyway, that they at least offered Hebrew Nat'l. dogs as an option. Now, I happen to prefer dogs with natural casings that have the requisite snap, and know of no Kosher dogs that meet this test, but they're still better than the limp, insipid Farmer John's crap. I like FJ pork products; but as a hot dog maker...FJ makes really good bacon.
jjackflash - August 8, 2006
I have passed on this tip before.
During daylight hours, drive east on Katella from the stadium. A little past Batavia, on your left, is a Home Depot. There is a dog cart there. He serves "Shafar" brand dogs. If you like Hebrew National, you will be amazed.Stirrups - August 8, 2006
If the Halos ever get another off day...
...we need to open a diary thread as a suggestion box to improve the food at the stadium.(P.S. - next off day is 8/21)

Napoli's really in a slump, and I'm sure the Hackman hasn't helped any.Seems to be he's just been missing his pitches; the buttload of foul balls and popouts tell me he's just missing.
But this is to be expected. In his minor league career, he's been prone to extended slumps, sandwiched between streaks when he really goes on a tear.

Not after the walk. And especially not after the double. Leaving him in to face another batter is pretty inexcusable.

our pitchers are the worst fielding
unit in the majors, without a doubthathaway93 - August 8, 2006
pretty sad
when you play baseball all your life and you can't compose yourself enough to make a decent toss to first.CaLiKrAzY - August 8, 2006
he stresses
and freaks out like he won't have enough time.ladybug - August 8, 2006
i'm pretty sure
that it is pretty hard when you are concentrating fully on the batterhathaway93 - August 8, 2006
i think he was
just in too big a hurry to get the runner..but sometimes it's best to let them have the base....angelsrallymom - August 8, 2006
Cmon Scot..
lets get out of the inninggorams77 - August 8, 2006
mighty close
looked safe....at least the lead runner is gone...angelsrallymom - August 8, 2006
can't believe
that was even a close play in the first place.CaLiKrAzY - August 8, 2006
and a really slow runner
on 1st, in case there is a extra base hit...Nevermind, nice job shields
hathaway93 - August 8, 2006

These Cleveland announcers
aren't very exciting, but they bend over backwards to be fair to both teams. A refreshing change from last night's Chisox bozos.UK Halo - August 8, 2006
i think we have talked about this before
but i am always confused...does an error help a players OBP??hathaway93 - August 8, 2006
don't think so
because he was suppose to be out. it would be all screwy then if that were true.CaLiKrAzY - August 8, 2006
No
only walks, hit by pitch and hits count towards OBPMatt UK - August 8, 2006

went a whole game without an error.CaLiKrAzY - August 8, 2006
Why does this team
always seem to roll over in the ninth?cardinalwraith - August 8, 2006
I mean offensively
n/tcardinalwraith - August 8, 2006
because
our guys want them to make an epic comeback.CaLiKrAzY - August 8, 2006
Because they ...
put it a good pitcher. They are pros, and also want to win .eyespy - August 8, 2006
maybe
they have that much confidence in frankie!!! just kiddinghathaway93 - August 8, 2006
that way we forget
all the crappy offense/defense and leave the game with an overwhelming WOW feeling. I guess they think the long term memory gets cancelled out.ladybug - August 8, 2006
Situations like this always scare me
I always prefer Frankie to have a two run advantage going in so he can give up the customary HR and then get the save.cardinalwraith - August 8, 2006
true
but we gotta give frankie the benefit of the doubt for now, he hasnt given up a run in like a monthhathaway93 - August 8, 2006
yeah, because he is overthrowing tonite
and trying too hard.ladybug - August 8, 2006
