Game Thread - Angels at White Sox - Escobar Vs. Buehrle - 4:05 p.m.

Makeup of a rainout originally scheduled for May 11. It is all part of God's master plan...
Intentionally Altered Movie Dialogue:
Narrator: Food on a road trip is scarce and not very nourishing. The men get one hot meal a day: a bowl of steam.
Facing a lefty, Scioscia has the opportunity to rest AK and GA, all without even lifting a finger to buy a vowel...

The Rex Hudler Biorythm Charts For Today
Mark Buehrlevs.
Kelvim Escobar
Take this information with a large block of salt. But as we found out over the weekend, The Hud's dad swears by 'em, and they were uncannily accurate the past couple of games.

Yesterday's chart for Adam Eaton...
...said:"Your general well-being is momentarily bad. Tendency: Declining and getting worse.
"Physical: You feel tired and drained. Avoid exerting yourself. You are unsure about your emotions. All good things come to an end. Intellectual: You spend these days without any plan or aim. Also, your reactions leave much to be desired."

Ahhh, but Rex's dad doesn't promote
that stuff. That stuff is JUNK. Biorythms are the bomb!!!I think you might have been at the game the night that Rex went off on some spew and brought up an anecdote about his dad telling him "that guy's biorythms curves are all high." To this day Rex has no idea what his dad was talking about. Phys was no help, either.
Certainly Rex knew enough to focus on the "high" part.
Anyway, for a joke (since I am old enough to remember mood rings and biorythm charts) I looked up Rex's biorythm for that day. It fit. Funny. So I looked up the pitchers for that game. Those fit too. Even funnier. So I looked up Sunday's pitchers. Fit again. On a roll. Go Rex's dad!
Fortunately for me, Rex's dad was not into reading monkey intestines at the bottom of the stew pot.

on your sig
I looked it up a while ago when the controversy was started. It is amazing that if you google the statement, it is 50/50 Durocher vs Westrum. You think someone would have questioned it.ladybug - August 7, 2006
Not what I see on Google.
When I Google that phrase (use quotation marks around the entire phrase, including the period), on the first page alone I get:Hit #1 Leo
Hit #2 Leo
Hit #3 (HH)
Hit #4 Leo
Hit #5 Leo
Hit #6 Leo
Hit #7 wes (but this is a non-authoratative quote site. The guy is from the Congo in Africa!))
Hit #8 Leo
Hit #9 Leo
Hit #10 Leo
And Hit #11, the first hit on the second page cites CNN.
My point is that most places attribute this to Leo, and those that attribute it to Wes are non-authoratative. If anybody can point me to any authoratative location that backs up the Wes Westrum claim, I will stand down.
Meanwhile, the primary anecdote for this comes from a story where Durocher took a Brooklyn Dodger pitcher out in the 8th inning. During the post game interview, a reporter asked him why he did that. Leo responded to the reporter with that quote. So you have Leo saying it to a reporter, in front of reporters. Unless Leo stole it from Wes (possible, since he coached Westrum back in the days fo the NY Giants).
Stirrups - August 7, 2006
I go with human nature
3 is the most popular number to my knowledge. So I think the cred&props should go to HH.
So everyone google the sig and click on #3 so we can make it numerro uno.
eyespy - August 7, 2006
Yeah! You noticed that?
I was wondering how the hell HH got up to #3 on a Google search for something as off-point as my sig? Something cool is going on around here. Good job Rev! (I hope that guy suing AllTel is generating enough REVenue...)Stirrups - August 7, 2006
hey guy
I'm NOT fighting you on it...I scrolled thru 3 pages and that's how I saw things. You haven't realized I don't do STATS?? LOLAs far as I'm concerned, Fred Flintstone can take the credit for it.
Until you prove otherwise, you have my vote of confidence!
ladybug - August 7, 2006
Oh, I am not picking any fight either.
I really am curious. I suspect that there is a true confusion about that quote and if Westrum deserves it, then it should be put right. I just cannot find anything definitive to make that happen. I may have to ask our corporate librarian for a favor and have her look it up on Lexis/Nexis. Since I am carrying #3 in Google on this quote, me getting it right to fix a lttle bit of history!Stirrups - August 7, 2006

I look for the knee-high fastball over the outside black of the plate, for a right-handed hitter. That is an easy location to trigger my visual memory and notice how it is getting called pitch to pitch, inning to inning. That visual trigger also helps me compare how the ump is calling both sides.
