Kinda wish we could have put those 4 runs from the 8th inning last night in the bank for tonght...
Intentionally Altered Movie Lines
Miyagi: Your friend, all karate student, eh?
Adam Kennedy: Friend? Oh, yeah, those guys.
Miyagi: Problem: attitude.
Adam Kennedy: No the problem is, I'm getting my ass kicked every other day, that's the problem.
I took the day off yesterday due to an illness which I believe was caused by a Carls JR burger at the stadium on Tuesday. But now this is all Boy Who Cried Wolf - I warned you all and then I did it to myself...

I cannot make a prediction..
..without knowing if AK is going to be a void in the 9 hole (as usual) or if G.A. is going to be batting ahead of Rivera (and ending innings before Juan gets to hit) again. If both are true we score 3 runs on 8 hits tops.
If AK sits, Q is at first, HK at 2nd where he belongs and Juan is hitting in front of G.A., 6 and 9.
Oh and Lackey holds Tex-Ass to 2 runs on 5 hits in 8 innings.

Ahhh...
...you're just trolling for another poem. So let me start one. (Very, very sorry Mr. Carroll!)The Owner and the Manager
Walked out to center field,
And then they rested on the rock
that Disney had revealed:
While all the roster players stood
And waited to appeal.
"The time has come," the Owner said,
"To talk of many things:
Of first--and left--and second base--
Of pennants--and of rings--
And if this team still has a shot--
And whether pigs have wings."
(to be continued...)
Stirrups - August 4, 2006
More
"But wait a sec," the Angels cried,"Before we have our chat.
For some of us are aging fast
And few of us can hit."
"No hurry!" said the Manager.
(Ersty thanked him for that bit.)
"A bat at first," Mike Scioscia said,
"Is what we chiefly need.
Or a thumper in the outfield
With skill and glove and speed
Now if you're ready, Angels dear,
We'll trade and take the lead."
"But not with us!" the Angels cried,
As Erstad barred the door.
"We hate the Philly weather
And D.C.'s even more!"
"Good thing for you," the owner said,
"Jim Bowden barely knows the score."
scareduck - August 4, 2006
I must admit...
I'm impressed.HeyLegacy - August 4, 2006
Wow. My very next stanza and yours are close.
I was holding the rest of mine until other games. Here it is..."But wait a bit," the players cried,
"Before we have our talk;
So we lack the skills to drag a bunt,
A few of us can walk!"
"Don't worry!" said the Manager.
They sat down on the chalk.
"A leadoff bat," the Owner said,
"Is what we chiefly need:
Relief pitching besides
Is very good indeed--
Now if you'll shut it, players dear,
We are ready to proceed."
"Don't blame us!" the players cried,
Turning a little blue.
"After so much kindness, that would be
A dismal thing to do!"
"The night is fine," the Owner said.
"Do you admire the view?
"It was so kind of you to come!
And you are very nice!"
The Manager said nothing but
"Someone must pay the price:
I wish you guys were not so deaf--
I've asked you more than twice!"
"It seems a shame," the Owner said,
"To play them such a trick,
After we've brought them out so far,
And made them trot so quick!"
The Manager said nothing but
"Let's get this over quick!"
"I weep for you," the Owner said:
"But some of you must go."
With sobs and tears he sorted out
The quickest from the slow,
"Howie, Kendry, Juan -- all yes.
GA, Ersty, AK --- no."
"Q can stay, and Izzy too.
OC, Vlad and Nap.
Our starting 5 remains intact
But mid-relief -- just crap.
Shields and K-Rod stick around.
And Adenhart's on tap."
"O players," said the Manager,
"You've had a pleasant run!
We loved you back in 2002,
But now it's all undone."
"That leaves just two." the Owner said,
"And Figgy is but one."
"Improve or go!" the Owner charged,
"Nothing else will do!"
"Start getting hits and scoring runs,
Or your career with us is through."
"So who's the last?" the Manager asked.
"Why Sosh, that one is you!"

Angels MLB Site
Did you notice that they changed the player photos on the top of the Angels' MLB site again? The site now features:
Johnny Rivers, O.C., Big John, Li'l Weaver, and Napoli.
Remember way back in the spring when the site boasted the distinguished photos of Ersty, Colon, GA and Vlad?
Ah...they were simpler times.
HeyLegacy - August 4, 2006
Didn't they remove AK a few months/weeks ago also?
n/tcardinalwraith - August 4, 2006
Yes, they did...
When Ersty and Colon went on the DL they were replaced with AK and Lackey. But Rivera, Weaver and Napoli (to my knowledge) are very recent additions.
I'm glad they have the rookies highlighted up there now along with Hot-Like-Fire-Rivera.

Remember in The Karate Kid near the beginning when Daniel meets some new friends and goes to the beach with them only to get beat up by Johnny and then his new "friends" abandon him because he got beat up? Some of the naysayers and poo-pooers on this site remind me of Daniel's "friends."
Furthermore, we all know that there is much to be learned from The Karate Kid. I, for one, never set my empty beer bottles on old Japanese men's vintage trucks. But think about it - The Karate Kid is an allegory for this Angels season:
Daniel LaRusso - Your Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
Johnny Lawrence - The Oakland A's
Mr. Miyagi - Bill Stoneman
John Kreese - Billy Beane (only not as cool)
Daniel's Mom - Darin Erstad (was around in the beginning but then just kind of disappeared)
Ali Mills - Rev. Halofan (sorry Rev, but we're just talking symbolism here)
Bobby - The Seattle Mariners
Dutch - The Texas Rangers
Let's get to that All Valley Tornament.
