Game Thread - A's at Angels - Loaiza vs. Escobar - 12:35 p.m.

Daygame = Sunburn = Proof nature wants you to be an Angels fan...
Intentionally Altered Movie Dialogue:
Blade: Some infielders are always trying to ice-skate uphill.
Scioscia bought a Diamond-Lane approved Prius for days like this - make sure to send a cab for Esteban to show up to pitch and get to the park quickly to see all the hits! I wonder if Mike's Howard big-screen television is bigger than his semi-electric car...

I always make my picks before looking at anyone else's. A few weeks ago I was first with my picks and EXACTLY replicated the Rev's - that was kind of embarrassing, I didn't even notice until after I'd posted.Sean @ Halos Heaven - August 2, 2006
I do that too
I post mine then see what everyone else has done. Sometimes I have been duplicating others but I know it's coincidence. Actually that gives me a good diary question idea...........ladybug - August 2, 2006

Lessee here. Rubixs is back home from a day at Wrigely Field. My wife is off today. The rubber match for a shot to take over first place against our main rivals is here in my own backyard. So I schedule a pair of important meetings this afternoon. It takes a special kind of stupid to miss out on an obvious opportunity like that.

Just out of curiosity...
Am I the only person on this board who is at work and can't listen to the game on the radio or watch on TV and wants to watch the replay tonight rather than following the game on Gameday? In other words, I have to avoid the game on the radio when I go to lunch, avoid looking at this site (and many other sports sites), AND try not to look at the Big A's halo when I drive home on the 57. The last one is really hard to do.
Higz - August 2, 2006
Sir...
You have much restraint to be able to do that...Dunno how you can miss the big halo on the way back home though. That has to be an interesting stretch down the 57... haha...
scottnak - August 2, 2006
You're tellin me
I have even avoided the 57 altogether and gone out of my way on the 55 just so I don't know what happened. It is unbelieveably difficult not to look at something when you are trying NOT to look at something. It's like being at the Playboy mansion with a jealous wife.Higz - August 2, 2006
Not so much

I often do this
Even for east coast games, I'll just ignore it and start up the game on the DVR when I get home. But for day games I usually go ahead and listen to it. I figure I won't be able to avoid it.

Our leadoff hitter is sucking wind, so we are going to bench our hot hitting #2 hitter, replace him with a guy who hits righties, and then drop the player down to the 8 slot. That should fix the Figgy problem.Stirrups - August 2, 2006

Did Payton get pissed for getting hit?
If so, he's got some serious problems if he thinks that was intentional.KPBruin - August 2, 2006

Gey Petten swung at that pitch
should have been a strike, also should have been tossed for stepping towards the mound.eyespy - August 2, 2006
should have been tossed for the
bad acting job!He swung into the ball, not like Scot threw the ball at HIM.It was an inside pitch and he swung rather than step back. Tough crap, that's baseball. Take it like a man
ladybug - August 2, 2006

Too bad that called that a HBP and not a foul. I was hoping Shields would have another shot to put him on his ass.LA Seitz - August 2, 2006

*sold*
scottnak - August 2, 2006
damn, that was easy
ladybug - August 2, 2006
I imagine scottnak is feeling the pressure too...
...from the expectations that we all now have to see the damnable pix graph! It's fast becoming a postgame tradition here. And more variety than the win/lose image inventory of the Rev's.He is probably muttering to himself "shit...I gotta drop what I am doing and get this posted NOW before everybody starts whining!" The price he pays for being a success. : )
Stirrups - August 2, 2006
Ahaha...
It's been quiet so far. And it better damn well stay that way! :PWhat a fun little adventure. Haha.
Anyhow, we should expand the win/lose picture reportare (sp?)... when I get unlazy. Haha.
