As Panther as Little Weaver was, Cabby has been carrying this team Vladdie-style and tonight was emblematic of his recent efforts: 2 for 4 with a run scored, a Sacrifice Ribby and running the dugout entertainment committee.
Jered gave up 5 hits in 7 innings against the A.L.'s lousiest team, striking out five and making Garret Anderson break a sweat going after flyballs on the run.

most of the swings that produce those flyballs are hacks, very few smooth strokes. His pitching motion hides the ball and hitters go into hack mode with an uppercut when they recognize fastball to late in the trajectory.Rev Halofan - June 13, 2006

Chone's base stealing
My favorite moment in the game was how flummoxed the Royals looked when Figgins was motoring around the bases - that stolen base on the pitchout was excellent viewing.Also, there was some jackass behind me yelling at GA, and every time he yelled, GA got a nice catch to shut him up.
Finally, it was nice to be a complete geek and run into Rev. Halofan and then freak him out a little bit. Internet fame.

I agree OC did a great job
but I still think Weaver-ette and Figgy deserve honorable mentions. I saw the old Figgy tonite and it was nice to see him back as his energetic rocket self.I think Weaver deserves it since he was literally pitching for his life. I hope they don't send him down.

This was a tough choice
it came down to this:These WERE the Royals. The high pitch count necessitates Shields-8 / Frankie-9. If it had been an absolute stud start, he would have had fewer baserunners and more gas for his own 8th and 9th.
Add to that the fact that Cabrera gets it started in the first to srve as Weaver's security blanket and you have the Panther - BUT IT WAS CLOSE. Very Close.

Do not send Jared back down...
We cannot reward the guy this way.I still find it difficult to believe that we're going to bring Bartolo back up when he's clearly not ready to compete with the big boys. What is so wrong about working out the kinks and getting the velocity where it needs to be at a lower level, where it won't hurt the major league club? I don't get it.
If Bartolo does come back up and throws weak cheese and gets hammered, and they sent Jared down to facilitate that, THEN I will really be disppointed.
As unbelievable as it may seem, we could be within 3 1/2 games later tonight. Every game is huge from here on out, seeing as we need to win an absolute minimum of 60 of the remaining 100 games to get in the playoffs (try not to think about that too much, it's very depressing). If we're not throwing in the towel yet, we need to make the right decisions to optimize our productivity. I don't see the room for error, and letting Bart work on his arm strength in major league games doesn't make sense to me.
Based on last night's performance alone, Jared deserves another start. I'm glad to hear his positive perspective regarding his potential demotion, but still, don't give the kid indications that we're a mickey mouse organization.
Stoneman: Figure it out and get it done right.

I don't think Colon is going to cut it. I don't think his shoulder is going to hold up past one game, if he even makes it that far. I think Colon is going bye bye and Lil Weave will have his spot in the pitching line up.This is all medical opinion. For him to have inflammation this long, one game of throwing the ball will reactivate it and he will be on the DL before you know it. I imagine he is on cortisone shots (which won't do anything long term anyway) as well as oral steroids, which will cause all sorts of fun side effects including water retention and weight gain which will make him have to work even harder on throwing and more stress on his shoulder.
At least, that is what I hope because I want to see Weaver stay in the line up and I don't think Colon will be able to cut it anymore.

Colon will be alright, which time will tell. He is a big part of us winning and hopefully their assessment is correct. On the other hand, I am hoping Colon is fit and healthy for the rest of the year as I would much rather have him doing his thing and Big Weave out of the rotation and lil weave inIf healthy this is a pretty dominant starting five
