Game Thread - Twins at Angels - Baker v. Weaver Sr. - 7:05 pm

Hey, just for kicks let's call Jeff "Bengie" Weaver and Jered "Jose" Weaver. Okay, maybe not.
Intentionally Altered Movie Lines:
Jeff Weaver: What is this, Wonka, some sort of funhouse?
Willy Wonka: Why? Having fun?
Jeff Weaver cites his homer to Wilkerson in Texas as the turning point of the season and I must concur, as he pirouetted like Nuryev upon releasing that tomato of a pitch. Now it is up to him to perform The Nutcracker for the remainder of the season.

Where's Napoli
Where's Napoli ? Can we trade Figgins yet ?higdog - May 30, 2006
Naps
has a sprained ankle but isn't going to go on the DL. It looks like another rookie is going to get babies my Sosh. I hope he is back in the starting line up ASAP.riktermiller - May 30, 2006
No Murphy Either....
higdog - May 30, 2006
howie
has been so hot lately..so far today 2-3 with a homer a triple and 5 rbis..and its only the 4th inning..he has a decent chance at the cycle and his average is now at .388hathaway93 - May 30, 2006
he keeps this up...
and the Angels may rethink stopping the Kennedy talks. I don't know where I stand on this one.I like the idea of giving rookies a shot, especially good ones, but just not TOO many in one year.
thewebb - May 30, 2006
Hmm
I think it would be best for everyone if Kendrick finished the season at Salt Lake.ClutchHomer - May 30, 2006
that could possibly be the worst idea.
Howie is already superior to Kennedy offensively and would provide the Angels with more offense (which they need) and Kennedy could bring back a nice young player or and impending FA as they were close to doing with the Blue Jays.riktermiller - May 30, 2006
Generalizing
Forecasting that he would do better offensively that Kennedy can right now, this season, is a risk in my opinion. If we are in the cellar come July 31st then we should re-evauluate trading Kennedy, but until then keep Kendrick at AAA.ClutchHomer - May 30, 2006
We are talking about the same AK correct?
Other than his "clutch hitting" he has proven to be a one dimensional offensive player throughout his career. He has hit for some power in a season and an empty average in other seasons but has never been able to put together a well rounded season with the bat. His defense would be missed but Howie with consistent at bats would be a FAR superior offensive player compared to AK.riktermiller - May 30, 2006

Rosenthal at Fox Sports is reporting
that Carl Crawford could be available by the 7/31. Now that is at mind guy I would like to have in the outfield for the next five or six years. Another rumor site reported that the Angles believe that Ersty played his last game of the season.riktermiller - May 30, 2006
interesting stuff all around
Let's send Kennedy/Figgins for Crawford.thewebb - May 30, 2006
I would be into that

was traded today to the Cincinnati Reds today for some bum minor leaguerhttp://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=A86.I9b6Cn1EhCABlQERvLYF?slug=redsyan&prov=st&type=lgn s
hathaway93 - May 30, 2006
anyone know?
does that mean we aren't going to be paying esteban yan's salary? looks like a great trade if we got rid of him and we don't even have to pay himhathaway93 - May 30, 2006
the Reds take over the salary unless
other terms were agreed upon. Judging by the name of the prospect I would assume the Reds took on the entire salary.riktermiller - May 30, 2006

Kubel???
Weaver gave up a homer to a guy named Kubel.scareduck - May 30, 2006
Kubel is a stud
he would have been in the majors all of last season if not for shredding his knee during the 04 AFL season. The kid can seriously hit.riktermiller - May 30, 2006
Molina
Molina is worthless, bring up Mathis now and let him get comfy behind Napoli. Trade Kennedy and Figgins together. I think those are calculated risks worth taking.higdog - May 30, 2006
