Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Game 120/162

Toronto at Angels
OFFICIAL GAME THREAD

Post yer trash talk and yer goody-goody squawk here

Towers versus Washburn, 7 pm at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim

TOPIC TO GET YOU STARTED: In the offseason, if it comes down to 2 years of Byrd for $6 million a year or 4 years of Washburn at $7 million a year, who do you take?

My Runs&Hits Pix: LAA: 5/8, TOR: 2/8

Random Ipod lyrics:
Suspicious Minds, sung by Elvis Presley.

Let's give Mike Scioscia's bullpen usage patterns the benefit of the doubt folks. Oakland lost and we can be three ahead after tonight - we gotta trust in Mike Scioscia (whose middle name is Lori) and Bud Black (whose real name is Harry), so keep the faith, don't be suspicious of what is going on here.

We can't go on together
with suspicious minds
and we can't build our dreams
on suspicious minds

Wash
um, washburn... he is the lefty, and um, i just really like him.  as for byrd... moreno can fork out the money.  i would take both over santa ana.

speaking of wash, how bout one for a score?

Halos 13/17
Whoever 3/6

He of not-so-little faith
Team that is actually in first place: 4/7
Warmed over Beanie babies: 2/6

Wash in a landslide, because:

  • He's a lefty. We need at least one of them around.
  • He's a bro, on a team that has built a good atmosphere of bro-ness.
  • He's younger than Byrd, and better (when he's better, like this year & 2002).
  • Despite Boras, he'll offer at least somewhat of a Hometown Discount.
  • Byrd'll want (and get) more than 2 years.
  • Santana'll be better than Byrd, as soon as next year. And there are some decent arms on the farm.
Washburn
No question. No long-term deal for Byrd - he's heading for a cliff in the next few years.

Washburn at $7m would be a dream, though, as he's making $6.5m this season and pitching market is ridiculous at the moment.

Halos: 7 on 13
GrayJays: 4 on 9

angels win
The Angels will win tonight. I think that the idea of Oakland losing makes me happier than anything. It's like telling me that unicorns are real. If Oakland loses and the Angels win, that's like saying that not only are unicorns real, but I have one in my backyard right now as my very own, and it can fly and drinks honey.
Mine
Angels 10 runs, 14 hits
Blue Gays 4 runs, 9 hits

Scott Schoeneweis is a piece of shit.

Worry about it in November
Driving for the postseason - 7 on 13
Pining for the fjords - 3 on 7
washburn
as long as he never goes back to the Bad Washburn.

'gels: 9/12
jays: 5/9

Yes We Can
halos 4/9
jerk offs 2/8
Let's go A's!
At least, the ESPN announcer just called us "the A's"
There it is
Telling Statistic Department, just flashed on screen between asshats McDonald, Hudler and Physioc acting like total idiots:

Angels bullpen ranking by season:

  1. 1st
  2. 1st
  3. 2nd
  4. 5th
Hurry back Kelvim, the bullpen needs you (and he's said the standard "I'll do whatever helps the team" line, which is good).
Cabrera is a piece of shit
